Anche Papa Francesco ne ha parlato durante la parte finale del suo messaggio di Ferragosto.
“Il mio pensiero va agli abitanti del Nord Kivu, nella Repubblica Democratica del Congo, recentemente colpiti da nuovi massacri che da tempo vengono perpetuati nel silenzio vergognoso, senza attirare neanche la nostra attenzione. Fanno parte purtroppo dei tanti innocenti che non hanno peso sulla opinione mondiale. Ottenga Maria per tutti sentimenti di compassione e di comprensione e desiderio di pace e concordia!”.

Carissimi!
Sono qui a chiederti un importantissimo aiuto! Come annunciato alcuni giorni fa, Padre Alex Zanotelli ed io abbiamo lanciato un appello per chiedere alla comunità internazionale di intervenire subito per fermare i massacri a Beni e dintorni, nel nord-est della RD Congo.
Tali massacri, in atto da più di 2 anni, sono stati definiti “pulizia etnica”, rischio “genocidio” e rischio di “un altro Rwanda” da alcuni europarlamentari che hanno visionato alcuni video ed immagini talmente raccapriccianti da non essere pubblicati.
Vi prego di firmare, fare firmare e condividere questo appello con tutti vostri amici e conoscenti.
Beni ha bisogno di te! La RD Congo ha bisogno di te! Abbiamo tutti bisogno del tuo aiuto.
